Sturgeon Moon Twilight 5K
We started the Heartland Endurance Sports Full Moon Series races in 2013, with the very popular Full Beaver Moon 5K Run/Walk in Noblesville, and are continuing the series for 2014. The Heartland Endurance Sports Full Moon Series of races are evening runs, scheduled and themed around the seasonal full moon weekend of the month. These races only occur when the full moon falls on a weekend date, which happens a few times a year, with all the various full moon weekends rotating over a couple of years.
Full Moon names date back to Native Americans, who kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. The Full Sturgeon Moon occurs in August, which is when sturgeon, a large fish of the mid-west and Great Lakes area, were most readily caught.
Come join us on this beautiful midsummer Sunday evening for a run, benefiting the Friends of Cicero Park, which is being paired with big band swing music – the Atlanta Music Hall Band will be entertaining us, playing at the park, from 6PM-8PM, with a mix ranging from 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s standards to big band, jazz and some contemporary. Come run or walk, swing to some big band music, and have a roaring good time!
All preregistered athletes receive an event t-shirt, finisher’s medal and a collectible race bib; be sure to register early for best price!
